" Draft call for degrowth practice labs
Degrowth has been an amazing political hypothesis for more than 20 years, it is now time that it fully includes the praxis. We call for spaces that are, could be identified or wish to become degrowth practice labs, that is to live in a concrete process of degrowth of the amount of resources they contribute to extract, of the quantity of product they produce and consume, of the level of entropy they generate, of the exploitation of ecosystems, to make deep democracy possible, justice on many issues a reality, care and conviviality a way of life and enjoy simple life. It is key that we enter this process as wars on fossil fuels and many other resources are raging: we want peace. It is very difficult because we are in a world dependent on growth, that still values people and activities positively by the amount of destruction they generate. Non exhaustive list of areas: agroecology, lowtech, lifestyle innovation, natural building, biodiversity supporting initiatives, ecological communities, ad-hoc experimental settings…
What involves becoming a degrowth practice lab? If you enter in the practice lab network, you engage to be transparent on the positive steps but also on the failures and difficulties in this difficult path. We will develop a team of supporters What spaces can become practice labs?
