Space Requirements

We need a new space. this is a page that outlines our requirements and has location proposals

Requirements

• At least 100m2
• Permanent heating
• Price: Less than 1000 EUR/month including all charges.
• Toilets

Preferred:

• Little or no internal finishings (e.g. hardwood floorings or carpets) we can mess up
• Multiple rooms
• Kitchen/sink.
• Roof access

Questions / points of interest

• Ok with our access policy?
• Use of the space for light industrial purposes.
• Us removing carpets/flooring if present.
• Us putting in partitions (if required).
• What state they would expect the space to be left in at the end of the contract.
• Adding in kitchen/sink if plumbing available.
• What toilet facilities are available.
• Length of lease.
• How does rubbish disposal work?
• about 10 people every day that will be there; mostly in evening hours
• when is it available, and for how long?
• what equipment / furniture is there (desks, chairs)?
• is there Internet connectivity?
• is there a kitchen, for making tea/coffee?

Text for a 'pitch' of our space

We are a group people from the new hackerspace in Amsterdam: http://techinc.nl

Our goal is to create a meeting space where like-minded people can meet each other and exchange ideas, learn together, work together, and have fun together.

For now, our group consists mostly of IT professionals with daily jobs, or freelancers & consultants, with some students and some artists mixed in. "Hacking" is a passion and a hobby and a dream: our interests are hardware-hacking, software-hacking, hacktivism, DIY, sharing knowledge, electronics, security, science...and much more besides.

We are registered as a vereniging, & have 30 paying members, and over 100 members on the mailing list; we have weekly social meeting where between 20 and 30 people show up every week. This is also where we hold our "members meetings" and discuss important topics that were brought on the mailing list, and we all make decisions together.

Funding is coming from the individual membership monthly contributions.

There are 5 board members that take legal responsibility for signing contracts, payments, keys, security, and any other formal & official things.

We have a temporary space on Vijzelstraat but are looking for a more permanent home.

Location Proposals

As we go we will edit this place and at cons/pros.

Nieuwe anita
The vesna had contact with the people behind the nieuwe anita, which isn't a really viable option since they prohibit newcomers to the space.

Wg-terrein
We had contact with the people from the wg-terrein, which doesnt seem a really good option since it doesn't want temporary organisations for a few months. For long term, none of the spaces are big enough. Has cheap venue space though.

Joe's garage
Too small, no space of our own.

Mediamatic
They offered us a ~80m2 space at the Vijzelstraat 68, Duintjes CS, however there is no heating but has a room for storage and seperate room for hacking.

Mediamatic also invited us for the vangendthallen project, which are three big halls and various other places where they are looking into, we will keep in contact with them about this project. However, they mediamatic is slowly transferring to this new place, another point is that it doesn't have any infra like water, plumbing, or internet.
