Updates

TMR Publication

In July, we are planning to publish a small edition with the results we have achieved within our group so far as well as Ukraine- and war-related essays/notes/materials.

If you would like to contribute to this publication and share your knowledge and expertise about the ongoing crisis, communication, culture, or other aspects that you think might be important in this regard, or if you know someone, who would like to contribute, please let us know before June 23.

The upcoming debates

The debates will take place at Pakhuis de Zwijger on June 30 at 20.00.

Some important questions that we would like to discuss:

  • Who can be the potential moderator?
  • Who within the TMR group would like to be part of the panel?
  • What is the actual statement for each round?

The current description and the plan that we have in mind are available at the Waag cloud, which everyone from the TMR group can access following the link pinned in the Signal chat. The contacts with the possible speakers are being established. All the members of the TMR group are welcome to join.

PLAN: The journalists and experts with the technical knowledge situated within the conflicted area share their experiences to contextualize the following debates. (Any Ukrainian/Russian/Belarus experts in mind?)

FIRST ROUND Case: introduce the topics and the sides we will discuss: Free Press versus Internet Freedom.

First statement: upon discussion. Please share your ideas.

SECOND ROUND General debate with the audience Second statement: upon discussion.

_________

Possible statements:

  • The effectiveness of a ban
  • The ethical and political principles of a ban
  • What should we do as Europeans
  • Negative sides of a ban, blocking and hindering — what good journalism should we support?
  • Under what circumstances is it acceptable for us to block — is war one of them?
  • The ramifications and effects of the policymakers // Ursula von der Leyen, and her understanding of the media platforms?
