You get to specify your own departure (arrival for return trip) station when you get your personal eticket. The price remains the same (0 for the ticket itself, x for the group discount) so if you're coming from Groningen the discount will be steep.
You can return the following morning at no additional charge[citation needed] (srsly, I've been trying to look for info on this, so far I've always assumed you'd need to return on the same day -- but then an NS day is from 0400 to 0400). You don't need to travel at the same times!
