We are a group people from the new hackerspace in Amsterdam: http://techinc.nl
Our goal is to create a meeting space where like-minded people can meet each other and exchange ideas, learn together, work together, and have fun together.
For now, our group consists mostly of IT professionals with daily jobs, or freelancers & consultants, with some students and some artists mixed in. "Hacking" is a passion and a hobby and a dream: our interests are hardware-hacking, software-hacking, hacktivism, DYI, sharing knowledge, electronics, security, science...
We are registered as a vereniging, & have about 65 members on the mailing list; we have weekly social meeting where between 10 and 20 people show up every week. This is also where we hold our "members meetings" and discuss important topics that were brought on the mailing list, and we all make decisions together.
Funding is coming from the individual membership monthly contributions.
There are 5 board members that take legal responsibility for signing contracts, payments, keys, security, and any other formal & official things.
We do not have a permanent "space" for the hackerspace yet: we are in the process of negotiating to rent a space in former ACTA building, via Urban Resort.
However, that keeps being postponed, and we would like to have temporary space in the meantime from February, till June (most probably)
Our usage of _temporary_ space:
about 10 people every day that we are there; mostly in evening hours we would bring following equipment... occasionally we want to make public events: workshops & lectures, for up to 50 people
Why are we interested in your space:
(e.g. NIMK: very central, not too large, and associated with "media art")
Questions:
how large is the space? when is it available, and for how long? what equipment / furniture is there (desks, chairs)? is there Internet connectivity? is there a kitchen, for making tea/coffee? can we bring own drinks? or is there a bar, what is available, and how expensive are drinks? how much would you charge for rent? per month? per event? what are the access restrictions? what are the legal responsibilities?
