Amount of resistance expressed in ohm (Ω). The higher the value, the more resistance.
- Fixed resistors. The amount is color coded (see below) or the value is printed on it.
- Variable resistors, also known as potentiometers. Continual adjustment of the resistance up to a maximum value.

The colors represent numbers. Keep the gold/silver ring to the right. The first two rings represent the numbers they correspond to. The third ring is the amount of zero's. The last ring is gold, silver or nothing, which represent the tolerance; 5%, 10% or 20%.
