Learning to Code III

Want to learn to code and meet like-minded peers? Then join us for our next meetup!

Our objective is to provide moments of inspiration and learning, together with the opportunity to practice your coding skills, regardless of your expertise level or preferred programming language.

The meetup will take place again at Technologia Incognita, a hacker space in Amsterdam, at the ACTA building. (How to find the space)

And here is how the day will look like:

-Meet & Greet (15 minutes)

-Presentation "Adventures in Python"(30 minutes) Nelson Ferraz is putting together a workshop and presentation. In this presentation you are going to write, together, a small text-based adventure game in Python. Target audience: beginner programmers. You should know the basics of programming (variables, conditionals, loops, etc). Ideally you have written a few scripts in any programming language. Preparation: bring a laptop with the following program installed: PyCharm (https://www.jetbrains.com/pycharm/)

-Practice programming (60 minutes) We will form small groups of people with similar expertise level and programming language interest, and each group decides what would they like to practice. We will have a collection of resources available for you select from. Also, more experienced programmers are encouraged to help with answers and tips.

There will be at least one group following the exercises for the "Adventures in Python" talk, but you can join other groups too.
