Use of social media

[DRAFT of a votable point for a future ALV]

Goal

There are various social-media channels created with the "Techinc" name/branding. We want to use these social-media to generate awareness of Techinc its activities and values to non-members that would otherwise not know of our existence.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Meetup
  • Mastodon
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Radar.squat.net
  • LinkedIn

The explicit goal of this votable point is to use social media is to expand the reach of Techinc beyond the "in the know" community, but without making these platforms a source of any unique content. We will use the platforms to repost relevant content that is already available on techinc.nl to these platforms, linking back to Techinc's infrastructure. Conversations on these platforms should be referring to wiki, mailing-lists or IRC when appropriate. It is explicitly frowned upon to create unique content on these external platforms.

Implementation

  1. We create a "Propaganda Committee" (PropComm) that maintains those accounts. PropComm will consist of 3 members, elected by a ALV vote. This can have overlap with board members, but board members cannot have a majority vote in the PropComm.
  2. the ALV kindly request members who currently control those accounts to relinquish control to the PropComm once it is established.
  3. PropComm will maintain a Techinc wiki page where they maintain an overview of the ownership and integrations with various platforms as well as an up-to-date view of the
  4. PropComm members are invited to automate the interactions with external platforms. Techinc members are not to be encouraged to use these platforms in active ways by PropComm.
