Notes from the 2nd Tea & Networking meetup , pre-lockdown edition

  • => next meetup: 17th January 2022
  • => place: TBD (please be the one to organise it!)
  • => there’s a new mailing list!

17th December 2021, BuurtBoerderij meetup

What happened at 2nd meetup of the not-yet-named initiative to keep in touch with each other: people who care about the social impacts of the Internet technologies.

There were 5 of us: Tessel, Donna, Karla, HP & Vesna. We’ve talked about meta-topics of the meetup itself: why are we doing it, how to improve it & what logistics are there / are needed. We’ve shared our resources: interesting talks, events, podcasts, projects. We’ve drank teas & hot chocolate & had some nuts ;-) We’ve sat outside , looking at the sheep nearby. We were lucky with the larger-scale timing: the next day, “total” lockdown was announced! We were unlucky with the smaller-scale timing: by the time I arrived, t he kitchen was closed & I could not order real “borrel” food!

  • Reasons for this series of meet-ups:
    • keeping in touch: social contact is precious by itself!
    • keeping each other informed about our projects, creating cross-connections
    • supporting each other: sharing offers & needs
TOPICS: Internet, technologies & impact on society: rights, justice, ethics, sustainability, diversity…

Present & represented organisations: Network Democratie, RIPE NCC, UnCiv, TechInc, /etc , Greenhost .
