List of ideas

Water route

Underwater Life

A grid of underwater lights that show the game of life

Whirlpool

Create a whirlpool and shine some light on it

Land route

Light wave

The public 'charges' a cell by shining the flashlight of a phone on a sensor. The light gets released moves up to the ceiling where it bounces like a wave. Optional, have some light behave a particle. Use different colors for different waves, particles.

The explanation burb

In Quantum-field-theory, an empty space without particles will bubble and fizz, allowing particles to pop in and out of existence, interacting and disturbing the fields of any particles, giving rise to the uncertainty in measurement. The message is the light being added by the environment of the structure, while the medium is the propagating, reflecting, interacting and absorbing the message. there is no vacuum, the medium will bubble and fizz with uncertainty.

Design ideas

  • There are 4 consoles that have two light-sensors. One to the outside of the structure and participants are encouraged to interact with it. And on the back side, pointing towards the inside and ground of the installation is a hidden light sensor used for feedback and interactions with the lights falling upon it from passing boats.
  • Lights are mixed into colored wave pattern that interact constructive and destructively. Reflects off the ends, but with less energy..
  • Whenever the activity goes below a threshhold, the system will spontaneously generate events.
  • This could be both on land or on the water route with consoles on both sides of a canal.
  • Main components can be hundreds of recycled water-cooler-bottles with the neck pointing down (see https://www.google.nl/search?dcr=0&tbs=imgo%3A1&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=bottle+office+water+cooler&oq=bottle+office+water+cooler) . The RGBW LED lights are inside. Shining up, allows the bottle of be lid, shining down allows the light to enuminate onto the ground/water below.

There's some experiments in various stages of non-completion that can be viewed: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/3fcab3ff74bf057888f1f8d0/w/39b17f9e33e232c33e88870c/e/97d55c1064716fe7a21380f0
