Pledges/Tools Bootstrap

A general list of things we need to bootstrap our space in terms of tooling. There is a separate page for electronics components.

Please add to the list below, including any prices as this will help us target which things we can afford to buy. If a tool is available in the space, please mark it in the list below as "Available in the space". If you can provide a tool, please note as "Xxx will bring to space" (and eventually as "Available" when it arrives).

Some example prices are included below (typically for Gamma, home-use quality) for reference. The tools may eventually be purchased elsewhere, of course, if better price and similar quality or better quality and similar price prevails...

Tools Pledge 1 - Basic Tools Bootstrap

This pledge is meant to cover a set of basic, mostly general-purpose, tools which are needed for many types of hardware projects.

• Vernier Calipers (digital?) [17.69euro for basic, 29.95euro for digital, Gamma] -- Antony will bring. Arnd: i have a cheaper Vernier Calipers to spare ; suggest buying digital one on offer at ALDI/LIDL when they have them again; cost around 9.95, also handy as servo-feedback-control)

Power tools

• rotary tool (e.g. dremel) + tools [109.00euro for Dremel 4000 + 45 access. at Gamma, 150euro for cordless model + access.] (arnd: I have one 'dremel-clone' to spare. I own three dremel-type tools and I think 2 is enough ;) It needs a new accessory-kit , however)
• hot glue gun (there is one small one donated by webmind in his for public use box) [13-86euro at Conrad for various models plus 10euros for gluesticks, say]. Ultratux has 20-40 11mm gluesticks. Arnd has some too that he'll dig up

Misc/safety

• gloves x2 (work) [3.5-5euro/pair at Gamma] (arnd: i might have a number spare; i keep buying these things. The simple/cheap kind, cloth+leather)
• gloves x2 (rubber/latex) [2.99euro/pair at Gamma]
• safety glasses x 3 [5.99euro/pair at Gamma] (arnd: Might have some of the cheaper types; flat pane plastic + rubber rim; works but easily scratched)
• Acetone (removes adhesives) [~9.00euro at Da, 1l bottle]
• Ethyl/isopropyl alcohol (for cleaning) [~9.00euro at Da, 1l bottle]
• WD-40 (available in the space)
• light machine oil (e.g. sewing machine/bike)
• plastic funnel (arnd: am sure i have a few to spare; part of a set)
• plastic washbin/containers (for use with chemicals, not food) (arnd: have a number of trays to spare perhaps for etching as part of DOKA setup; will investigate)
