What did the board do the last year

The "vereniging" was created the 13th of December. We moved in the vijzelstraat thanks to becha and amx109 chasing the lead to mediamatic. We moved out of Mediamatic half of October and are now in ACTA for an unspecified amount of time.

The board only does basic things and infrastructure; members need to pick up stuff to do. The new space is shaping up nicely.

Financial overview.

  • 1800 euro saved. 11.70 in current cash. We are 6 members short who would pay 20 euro a month to be sustainable. We need to chase members better who are neglecting to pay.
  • The yearly financial overview needs to be checked by 2 or 3 people, who are not serving at the current board or are running for the next board.
  • The following volunteers appeared out of thin air:
    • Melinda
    • Axel Roest
    • Philip/Phicoh

Someone asked how to set money aside for consumables. There is no solution yet.

We have to pay income tax over the membership fees, and we get income tax back for the urban resort rent. So they equal either other out. It is possible for members to receive an invoice for their membership fees, if they decide to pay for a year in advance.

What's allowed on the space wiki, ie, project wise (think rubberfuse) - DrWhax

Since they started on rubberfuse, which is a continuation on rubberhose, there is a fear in some members that we work in 'terrorist activities'. webmind idea: as long as it's lawful, it should be okay (one opinion). The problem was more in the project statement on the website, which indicated a possibly unlawful usage.

Problem: who decided what is (un-)lawful?

Axel: the board? Just: No, the members are responsible, not the board, because it is an association.
So basically, you would need an ALV for tricky decisions? Answer: yes.
Maarten: if we are all responsible, than one member can endanger the association by putting illegal stuff online.
Justa: illegal is easy, it is the grey border that is tricky.
Melinda What happens if a law changes and something is suddenly illegal? Answer: then it is illegal and should be changed.
Keep politics out of the organisation. Justa: tech-inc was always meant as a non-political hacker space.
       Webmind: political
Philip: we should have an easier way to vote for or against projects online, like a discussion on the mailing list, or a referendum. He doesn't lke the fact that everything political should be banned.
Eddie: the idea is that everyone should be possible to work on an idea. If anyone is able to veto a project, it will not work. A majority vote will be a good thing. (And is what we do, according to Justa).
Becha : anonymous people can now post on the wiki, that is dangerous for members. Everyone agrees this is an important issue which needs to be discussed further. e.g. anonymous members vs anonymous non-members.
The chairman is quite rude to the notulist, so he will refuse further note taking (sorry)

Summarising; we allow people to host projects which are borderline. We would like an system to vote on projects which are "questionable" under dutch law. We are also proposing a disclaimer for projects which are legal under dutch law.

We have decided due to the complexity to setup a small group that is going to come with a proposal and discuss that in the meantime on the mailinglist and vote this on at the next ALV.

Ultratux, wizzup, webmind, madeddie, drwhax, realitygaps

Axel gave ultratux his voting right. Axel has to leave the ALV.

cameras & recording in the space - webmind

THe discussion is divided between webcams and taking pictures. Taking a picture of a cup is different then taking a picture of someone's face. Concerns has been voiced by members who asked someone with a camera in the space, what was up with this. E.g, they didn't like the fact of camera's in the space presence.

  • Webmind; There is a difference in photocamera's and video camera's. Rule 6 state, be excellent to each other and respect each others privacy.
  • Justa; A webcam that does motion detection. Everyone that can open the space is a member, so it's not for security reasons.
  • Becha; A videostream would be nice for lectures. A policy would be nice for guests about pictures. Ask first. Or a flipboard with another option, no photo's.
  • Realitygaps; He agrees with becha.
  • MAdeddie; It would be very hard for camera's because we only have one big space and not like revspace with multiple spaces.
  • Phicoh; That for every camera subject we will have to vote on it.
  • Webmind; Have a camera on when the alarm. A sign at the door with 3 values.
  • Wizzup; Security camera's is a closed ciruit. Wizzup doesnt have a problem with camera's. Seperate from the camera policy.

17:07 <@Wizzup> DrWhax: my notes: - Taking pictures (guests) 17:07 <@Wizzup> - Permanent Cameras (...). Security CCTV != TV 17:07 <@Wizzup> - Cameras for talks is obvious 17:07 <@Wizzup> Main cameras objects are that other people can see it, CCTV is different.

  • Reese; if you don't want to be in the film, it needs to be announced, or only the presenter and create a no-camera path.

We have decided due to the complexity of this subject, to setup a small group that is going to come up with a proposal and discuss this matter in the meantime on the mailinglist and vote about this subject at the next ALV. Wizzup, webmind, ultratux, phicoh will form the group webmind: Virtual precense could be implemented by for instance having a camera on a whiteboard, privacy is not about legality, an option could be that if you want a security cam, it's only turned on by another alarm first. I like the idea of a tri-state-sign which displays before entering if the space is a no-cam zone, ask-first or free to use camera zone.

more structured default monthly membership amount - Aldert. No proposal was present nor was Aldert present, this is why there is no agenda-point.
